Fun to fly, free to watch
I’ve always wanted to ride in a hot air balloon, until I found out how expensive it is.
The 2011 Plano balloon festival is coming up September 16-18, and it’s $250 to take a ride in one of those tiny baskets, but it’s much cheaper to watch all the colorful things float around in the sky.
Tickets are a much more affordable $4 for the festival if you go from 9 am to 3 pm and $5 otherwise. There will be live music from local bands, a 5K and half marathon, kids zone, fireworks and of course, tons of balloons. At sunrise and sunset they do a balloon glow, lighting up all the balloons at once.
Check the event site for more info including the history of hot air balloons! I just want to know how you make them look a little less–let’s just say girly.
